What Went Down at Kochi Comic Con
For years, Kerala fans travelled to other cities just to attend Comic Con. This time, the celebration came home. Sessions with international comic book creator Dan Parent drew packed audiences, with conversations around storytelling and character creation resonating strongly with a crowd that grew up on Malayalam comics and Malayalam pop culture.
The cosplay scene was one of the weekend’s biggest highlights — participants brought everything from Luffy and Tanjiro to proudly regional icons like Mayavi, Luttappi, and Minnal Murali to life on stage, drawing some of the loudest crowd reactions of the event. The Kochi Qualifier of the Indian Championship of Cosplay concluded with Indrakshi Haldar taking home the title and ₹50,000.
The NODWIN Gaming Arena ran competitive challenges, VR experiences for Chandrayaan and Beat Saber, a Logitech racing sim corner, and a Just Dance booth across both days. Crunchyroll’s Suzume Door installation and exclusive goodies for Power Pass holders added an anime-specific flavour, while Amar Chitra Katha, Balarama Comics, and independent creators like Abhijeet Kini kept the creators’ corner buzzing throughout.
On the main stage, MHR & Joker turned the arena into a singalong, Sreenath Bhasi & Crew drew an electric local response, and comedians Rohan Joshi, Nirmal Pillai, and Pilot Gomma played to packed houses.
