OTT Release Timeline
While an exact streaming date has not been officially announced, industry analysts expect Dhurandhar 2 to follow the standard eight-week theatrical window, making it available on JioHotstar around May 2026. The first part of Dhurandhar streamed on Netflix on January 30, 2026, approximately 54 days after its December 5 theatrical release.
Digital Rights Deal
| Aspect | Dhurandhar 1 | Dhurandhar 2 |
|---|---|---|
| OTT Platform | Netflix | JioHotstar |
| Digital Rights Fee | Rs 85 crores | Rs 150 crores |
| Acquisition Timeline | Post-theatrical | Already acquired |
| Platform Switch Reason | Jio Studios confidence | Strategic decision |
| Overall Investment | Limited | Higher value recognition |
JioHotstar acquired the digital rights for Dhurandhar 2 at Rs 150 crores, nearly double what Netflix paid for the first part at Rs 85 crores. This substantial increase reflects the massive success of the first installment and its proven commercial value.
Why the Platform Switch?
Netflix initially attempted to acquire both parts of the Dhurandhar franchise for Rs 175 crores before the first film’s theatrical release. However, Jio Studios demonstrated confidence in their property and waited for the first part’s release before finalizing the second part’s digital rights deal. The decision proved strategic, as Dhurandhar became a massive box office phenomenon, earning over Rs 1,300 crores worldwide.
After Netflix faced backlash over alleged censorship when trimming 10 minutes from Dhurandhar’s streaming version compared to the theatrical cut, Jio Studios likely preferred JioHotstar for the sequel to maintain content integrity and control distribution strategy.

Director Aditya Dhar helms the sequel after the first part’s massive success. The film is produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios, with PVR Inox Pictures distributing in Central India, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala.

T-Series has acquired music rights for Dhurandhar 2, replacing Saregama from the first installment. The soundtrack is composed by Shashwat Sachdev. Shooting for the sequel wrapped in October 2025 after principal photography began in July 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand, with additional filming in India and January-February 2026 shots.
Dhurandhar 1 Box Office Success
