SS Rajamouli’s Varanasi Goes Global: Mahesh Babu & Prithviraj Head to Georgia

The buzz around SS Rajamouli’s next magnum opus, Varanasi, just got louder — and this time, it’s coming straight from the airport! Superstar Mahesh Babu was spotted flying to Georgia in the early hours of February 24, 2026, as the team gears up for a crucial 12–14 day filming schedule. If you’ve been following this one closely (and who isn’t?), here’s everything you need to know.

Varanasi Georgia Schedule: Key Details

What’s Being Shot in Georgia?

Rajamouli and DOP PS Vinod had already scouted Georgia as a filming location a couple of months ago — so this wasn’t a last-minute call. According to reports, the Georgia schedule will focus heavily on action-packed sequences featuring Mahesh Babu’s character Rudhra and Prithviraj Sukumaran’s wheelchair-bound villain Kumbha. These are being described as “massive action sequences and pivotal scenes” — the kind that Rajamouli fans absolutely live for.

Priyanka Chopra, who plays Mandakini in the film, is unlikely to join this particular leg of the shoot as she’s currently busy with promotions for The Bluff.

Why This Film Has Everyone Hooked

Varanasi isn’t just another big-budget film — it’s Rajamouli’s reunion with pan-India spectacle filmmaking after the global success of RRR. The film had a grand title reveal at Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad, and is targeting an April 7, 2027 theatrical release. According to reports, shoot is expected to wrap by June 2026, after which an extensive VFX pipeline — similar to what powered Baahubali and RRR — will take over.
