Four years after the flat caps were hung up and Birmingham’s most dangerous family rode off into the fog, Tommy Shelby is back. And if the trailer for Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man is anything to go by, the man who once nearly had everything has lost nearly all of it — and is about to burn what’s left to the ground.

Netflix dropped the full trailer on February 19, 2026, and the internet immediately stopped what it was doing.

What the Trailer Reveals — and Why Fans Can’t Look Away

The trailer opens with Ada Shelby delivering a devastating line to her brother: Duke has been running the Peaky Blinders like it’s 1919 all over again. Tommy, meanwhile, is introduced in a state of ruin — living in self-imposed exile in a crumbling house, medicating, drifting in what Cillian Murphy himself describes to Netflix as “a purgatory of his own creation.” He’s not living. He’s not dead. He’s somewhere in the fog between the two.

Murphy described the character’s state simply: “He’s just medicating and living in this purgatory that he’s created for himself in this big old house. He’s in this liminal space, not really living, he’s not really dead.” Wikipedia

What pulls him back is the most personal threat the Shelbys have ever faced. His illegitimate son Duke (played with dangerous energy by Barry Keoghan) has gotten entangled with British fascist sympathiser Beckett and, through him, with the Nazi party itself — all while the Blitz is tearing Birmingham apart. Tommy doesn’t want back in. But the fate of his son, his family, and arguably the country gives him no choice.

The line that hit hardest in the trailer? “Once, I nearly got fuckin’ everything. But nearly doesn’t count.” Wikipedia

A Legacy Bigger Than One Film

This film is deliberately positioned as a bridge — sitting between the original Peaky Blinders series and a separate sequel show already in development at Netflix, set roughly 20 years later and tracking a new generation of Shelbys. Series creator Steven Knight describes the film as “explosive” and “full-on Peaky Blinders at war,” Parade with principal photography having taken place at Digbeth Loc Studios in Birmingham — exactly where it all began.
