Rajamouli Reunites with Kichcha Sudeep for Varanasi

If you know Indian cinema, you know that when SS Rajamouli and Kichcha Sudeep come together, magic happens on screen. Now, according to a fresh report by India Today (February 18, 2026), the duo is set to reunite for the third time — this time on the most ambitious Indian film currently in production: Varanasi, starring Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra Jonas.

The makers are yet to issue an official confirmation, but the buzz is too loud to ignore. Sudeep has previously expressed his belief in taking on roles that leave a mark rather than just adding a name to a poster — and a Rajamouli film certainly fits that philosophy.

Kichcha Sudeep & Rajamouli — A Legacy of Iconic Moments

This wouldn’t be the first time these two have shared creative space. Their previous collaborations include a brief but memorable appearance in Eega (2012) and a powerful cameo in Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) — both of which proved that even a short screen time with Rajamouli can define a career highlight. A third collaboration, in what is arguably Rajamouli’s grandest project yet, would take their partnership to a whole new level.

What Is Varanasi About?

Varanasi is Rajamouli’s globetrotting epic that weaves the spirit of the Ramayana into a modern, larger-than-life canvas. Mahesh Babu plays Rudhra, a character inspired by Lord Rama, who travels across timelines to save humanity. Prithviraj plays the antagonist Kumbha — described as one of the most layered characters Rajamouli has ever written. Prakash Raj has also been confirmed in the role of an ardent Lord Shiva devotee. Extensive VFX work and domestic + international shooting schedules are already underway.
