When Your Ex Becomes Your Boss: Undercover Miss Hong Episodes 3-4 Intensify the Stakes

Park Shin-hye’s undercover mission just got exponentially more dangerous. Episodes 3 and 4 of Undercover Miss Hong escalated tensions as financial supervisor Hong Geum-bo faces off against her ex-boyfriend Jung-woo—now the CEO of the very company she’s investigating—while navigating treacherous workplace dynamics and mysterious threats closing in.

Undercover Miss Hong Episodes 3-4 Quick Overview

The Painful Reunion That Changes Everything

Episode 3 opens with Jung-woo recognizing Geum-bo despite her elaborate disguise. She quickly deflects by calling him “uncle” and fleeing, but the damage is done—he’s suspicious. A heartbreaking flashback reveals their tragic past: Jung-woo once gave her a sand hourglass engraved with his initials, symbolizing their commitment to stay connected despite distance.

Their relationship ended over irreconcilable moral differences during a previous securities scandal. When a man committed suicide after being implicated, Geum-bo chose ethics over corporate loyalty. Jung-woo sided with management, creating an unbridgeable divide that destroyed their romance. Now they’re forced to work together under false pretenses, with Jung-woo unknowingly hunting the woman he once loved.

Roommate Drama and Workplace Alliances

The dynamic in dorm room 301 shifted dramatically when Bok-hee accused roommate Jang-mi of theft after catching her near her bag. The warden intervened, found nothing missing, and forced Bok-hee to apologize. Despite this rocky moment, the roommates quickly rallied together when department head Cha Jung-il badmouthed Bok-hee at the office.

Geum-bo couldn’t hold back—despite needing to maintain her low profile, she defended Bok-hee and earned massive overtime work as punishment. The roommates then sabotaged Cha’s belongings in retaliation, solidifying their alliance. This “womance” among the four women has become a highlight, showing how Geum-bo’s naturally protective instincts conflict with her need to stay invisible.

The Crisis Management Breakthrough

Against all odds, Geum-bo’s Crisis Management Headquarters team shed its reputation as a hollow department by successfully building an information-sharing system for Hanmin Securities after three consecutive all-nighters. Her seasoned skills and resourceful leadership impressed colleagues, though this success also raised her profile dangerously—making it harder to stay under Jung-woo’s radar.

Episode 4: The Disciplinary Committee Crisis

Episode 4 escalates the stakes when Geum-bo finds herself facing a disciplinary committee, bringing her face-to-face with Hanmin executives including Jung-woo himself—the exact person she’s been desperately avoiding. The hearing threatens not just her undercover mission but her entire investigation into the suspicious funds flowing through the company.

The Ominous Cliffhanger

Just when it seemed Geum-bo might catch a break, the episode concluded with a chilling twist. After celebrating payday with drinks, the roommates returned to find their room completely ransacked. Chocolates are missing, and ominous clues suggest a kidnapper is operating somewhere nearby. Most disturbing: an unseen figure appears to be hiding inside a wardrobe, watching and waiting.

This development raises terrifying questions about whether Geum-bo’s cover has been blown and if her investigation has put her roommates in mortal danger.

What These Episodes Reveal

Episodes 3-4 masterfully balance workplace comedy with genuine thriller elements. Jung-woo’s snooping around Geum-bo’s family restaurant (where he nearly met her parents before she covered by claiming everything belongs to her “sister”) shows he’s actively investigating the woman who looks exactly like his lost love. Meanwhile, power plays continue at Hanmin as Miss Song unsuccessfully angles for positions above her station.

The series set during Korea’s 1997 financial crisis continues using this historical backdrop to heighten the stakes—everyone’s desperate, making the corruption investigation both more urgent and more dangerous.
