Pavane Film Information

What’s the Story About?

Set in a department store environment, Pavane follows three emotionally closed-off individuals who gradually become sources of light for one another. Mi-jung (Go Ah Sung) is a department store salesperson who keeps herself invisible, avoiding human connection at all costs. Yo-han (Byun Yo Han) works in the parking lot with a free-spirited attitude that masks his own pain. Enter Gyeong-rok (Moon Sang Min), who develops feelings for Mi-jung after meeting her at his part-time job.

The film’s title references “Pavane for a Dead Princess,” hinting at themes of mourning, healing, and second chances at happiness. It’s a slow-burn romance that explores how vulnerability can transform lives.

Meet the Cast

Go Ah Sung leads the film with her understated brilliance. Known for critically acclaimed films like Samjin Company English Class and The Beauty Inside, she brings depth to emotionally complex roles. Her Netflix credit includes a memorable guest appearance in Doona.

Moon Sang Min makes his feature film debut after impressive performances in Netflix’s Under the Queen’s Umbrella and My Name. His chemistry with Go Ah Sung is already generating buzz among K-Drama fans.

Byun Yo Han brings gravitas from his role in the beloved Mr. Sunshine and films like Hansan: Rising Dragon. His free-spirited character adds necessary levity to the emotional narrative.

Why You Should Watch

Director Lee Jong Pil is known for his nuanced approach to human relationships, making Pavane more than just another romance. This film explores the quiet courage it takes to open your heart after trauma, wrapped in the aesthetically pleasing package Korean cinema delivers so well.
