EA and Battlefield Studios release focused Update 1.1.3.5 on January 20, addressing melee responsiveness, jet balance, and ladder bugs while Season 2 faces delay until February 17 following extended Season 1.

Quality-of-Life Fixes Bridge Content Gap

With Season 2 postponed from its expected January launch, Update 1.1.3.5 targets long-standing community complaints about combat consistency. The patch enhances melee responsiveness, refines jet combat, improves ladder interactions, and resolves UI and HUD issues in Multiplayer and REDSEC, alongside stability improvements for Battle Royale and Gauntlet modes.

Key Changes in Update 1.1.3.5

Category	Major Changes
Jet Combat	40% more hits required to destroy aircraft
Melee Attacks	Faster responsiveness, improved damage timing
Sprint Behavior	Only interrupted until attack connects
Ladder System	Fixed launching bugs and entry issues
UI/HUD	Reticle color customization, refined menus

Air Combat Rebalanced for Longer Dogfights

Jet cannon damage against other air vehicles has been significantly reduced, requiring approximately 40% more hits to destroy enemy jets or helicopters. This change addresses community feedback that aerial engagements ended too quickly, though the dedicated air radar promised after Season 1 launch remains absent.

The adjustment forces pilots to commit longer to engagements, rewarding accuracy and maneuvering skill over raw damage output. However, ground targets remain unaffected by these balance changes.

Melee Combat Gets Comprehensive Overhaul

Melee attacks with knives and sledgehammers now feature improved consistency of damage timing against enemies and the environment. Attack speed increases make close-quarters combat more fluid, while buffering behavior improvements ensure inputs register reliably during intense firefights.

The most significant quality-of-life improvement affects sprint interruption. Previously, pressing the melee button stopped sprinting for the entire animation duration, often leaving players vulnerable just before reaching their target. Sprint is now only interrupted until the attack reaches its target, rather than for the full duration of the animation, making rushes more effective.

Notorious Ladder Bugs Finally Addressed

Fixes resolve issues where ladders positioned above players could not be entered, and where soldiers could be launched unexpectedly when attempting to enter a ladder. These physics glitches occasionally sent players flying across maps or prevented objective access entirely, frustrating competitive play.

The update introduces reticle color customization for weapon and gadget scopes, allowing players to adjust visibility based on map environments. Armor bar visibility improvements and refined menu navigation address community complaints about the UI resembling streaming services rather than tactical shooters.

Controller users benefit from improved consistency of recoil modifiers across different weapons, creating more predictable gunplay regardless of loadout choices.

Season 2 Delay Extends Season 1

Battlefield Studios announced January 13 that Season 2 would shift to February 17, catching players off-guard with no specific content details provided. The delay allows additional polish time following mixed reception to Season 1 and the REDSEC Battle Royale mode.

Former Ubisoft leader Julian Gerighty’s recent recruitment to DICE signals long-term franchise restructuring, though his influence won’t appear until future updates.

Update 1.1.3.5 deploys January 20 at 9 AM UTC (1 AM PDT, 4 AM EDT, 10 AM CET) across all platforms.
