Edinson Cavani’s Manchester United career could be cut short to a single season-long spell if recent rumours are to be believed. According to the Sun, Luis Cavani, Edinson’s father has indicated that the striker is not happy in England and is holding out for a return to South America.
Here is what he had to say, as quoted by the Sun:
“My son does not feel comfortable in England and wants to be close to the family again.
“Edinson is going to end up playing in South America. I want Edinson to play in a team that fights for something important.
“Edinson had many conversations with [Boca vice-president Juan Roman] Riquelme and he would like to play for Boca.
“He was always seduced by the idea of playing in Boca. If he returns to South America he is leaning towards Boca.”
“By the middle of the year he will return to South America. My son’s idea is not to continue there, he wants to return.”
During his time at Manchester United, the Uruguayan has managed to score 6 goals and assist two in his 18 appearances for the club in the Premier League. Cavani signed an initial one year deal with United with the option to extend the deal for another year.
However, if Luis Cavani’s words are true, and the player is in fact not content with life in England, then we could be looking at another chase for United to sign a classy back up striker to support the likes of Rashford, Martial, James and Greenwood who race past on the wings.
