The RIP: Essential Information

Plot Synopsis: Brothers-in-Crime

The RIP follows two estranged brothers—played by Damon and Affleck—who reunite for one final heist after their father’s mysterious death reveals a decades-old conspiracy. The “RIP” refers to both “Rest in Peace” and the underground crime organization they must infiltrate to uncover the truth.

Director Joe Carnahan (The Grey, Narc) crafts a neo-noir atmosphere blending emotional family drama with explosive action sequences. The screenplay, co-written by Damon and Affleck, draws from their Boston roots, featuring authentic Massachusetts locations and dialect.

Character Dynamics: Damon plays the cautious, family-oriented brother who left criminal life behind, while Affleck portrays the reckless, still-active criminal.
