Dakota Johnson Sparks Romance Rumors After Cozy Candlelit Dinner with Singer Role Model

Just six months after ending her eight-year relationship with Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Dakota Johnson is making headlines again. The Fifty Shades star was spotted getting extraordinarily close with singer-songwriter Role Model at an intimate holiday dinner—and eyewitnesses say things looked pretty romantic.

Dakota Johnson Candlelit Dinner That Started It All

What Witnesses Saw

According to TMZ sources, Dakota and the 28-year-old musician—whose real name is Tucker Pillsbury—weren’t just friendly dinner companions. Eyewitnesses reported seeing Dakota “lying on him all cuddled up” during the cozy evening, with both leaning forward over candlelight, deeply engrossed in conversation.

Photos captured Dakota sipping from her glass as they huddled together with friends, but their body language suggested something more than platonic friendship brewing between them.

Both Fresh Out of Long-Term Relationships

Timing is everything, and both stars find themselves newly single this “cuffing season.” Dakota ended her on-again, off-again relationship with Chris Martin in June 2025 after nearly eight years together, including an engagement that never made it down the aisle.

Role Model, meanwhile, split from influencer Emma Chamberlain back in 2023, giving him over two years to heal before potentially opening his heart again.

Who Is Role Model?

If you’re not familiar with Tucker Pillsbury’s music, you’re missing out. The indie-pop artist has built a massive following with vulnerable, relationship-focused hits like “Blind,” “Look at That Woman,” and “Life in Pink.” His emotionally raw lyrics and smooth vocals have earned him millions of streams and collaborations with artists like Lizzy McAlpine.

His aesthetic blends nostalgic ’80s synth-pop with modern bedroom pop sensibilities—perfect for someone like Dakota who appreciates artistic depth.

Dakota’s Dating Deal-Breaker Revealed

Earlier this year while promoting Materialists, Dakota got refreshingly blunt about her relationship standards. When asked about her non-negotiable dating requirement, she simply replied: “Like, not an a**hole?”

Her co-star Chris Evans laughed, calling it “concise,” but Dakota’s straightforward approach reflects her maturity after years in the spotlight. She’s clearly not interested in wasting time on anyone who doesn’t treat her with respect.

The Chris Martin Chapter Closes

Dakota and Chris Martin’s relationship was always intensely private. They began dating in 2017, moved in together in Malibu in 2021, and got engaged in March 2024. Despite multiple breakup rumors over the years, insiders say this summer’s split “feels final.”

Even Chris’s ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow publicly adored Dakota, telling Harper’s Bazaar she thought the relationship was wonderful. But busy schedules, conflicting priorities, and the challenges of maintaining romance while constantly traveling ultimately took their toll.

What’s Next for Dakota?

Whether this cozy dinner marks the beginning of a new romance or just two creatives enjoying each other’s company remains to be seen. Dakota has always been notoriously private about her love life, rarely addressing relationships publicly until they’re long-established.

One thing’s certain: she’s embracing her independence and isn’t settling for anything less than genuine connection and respect. After eight years with one of rock’s biggest stars, she deserves nothing less.
