LG Display CES 2026: 720Hz OLED, 39″ 5K2K, RGB Stripe Panels

LG Display is rewriting gaming monitor specs at CES 2026 with three world-first panels: a 27-inch 720Hz OLED with 0.02ms response time, the first 39-inch 5K2K curved OLED, and a 27-inch 4K 240Hz panel using RGB stripe subpixel layout. All 2026 gaming OLED panels will feature upgraded Primary RGB Tandem 2.0 technology delivering 1,500 nits peak brightness and HDR True Black 500 certification.

LG Display CES 2026: Gaming OLED Lineup

Panel Specifications

720Hz: The Fastest OLED Ever

The 27-inch 720Hz OLED refreshes every 1.38 milliseconds—the fastest gaming OLED panel in existence. Combined with 0.02ms response time (over 150× faster than LCD), this eliminates afterimages and motion blur entirely during rapid transitions, giving competitive esports players measurable advantages in Counter-Strike 2, Valorant, and Apex Legends.

LG Display is the first manufacturer achieving ultra-high refresh rates on OLED technology without sacrificing response time or color accuracy. The dual-mode capability likely allows switching between native resolution at 720Hz and lower resolutions for even higher frame rates—though GPU requirements remain extreme.

39-Inch 5K2K: Immersive Productivity Monster

The world’s first 39-inch 5K2K OLED panel targets creators and immersive gamers with 5120×2160 resolution in a curved 21:9 format. The 1500R curvature wraps around peripheral vision while delivering 33% more horizontal workspace than standard UHD monitors—ideal for video editors, cinematographers, and multitasking professionals.

Dual-mode operation switches between 165Hz at full 5K2K resolution for visual fidelity and 330Hz at WFHD (2560×1080) for competitive gaming speed. The 0.03ms response time maintains OLED’s pixel-level instant switching regardless of mode.

LG Display remains the only manufacturer producing 39-inch OLED panels, giving them monopoly positioning in this ultra-immersive form factor through 2026.

RGB Stripe 4K 240Hz: Text Clarity Revolution

Traditional OLED gaming monitors use RGWB or triangular RGB subpixel arrangements causing color fringing on fine text. LG Display’s new 27-inch 4K RGB stripe panel eliminates this by placing red, green, and blue subpixels in straight vertical lines—dramatically improving text clarity at 160 pixels per inch.

The 240Hz refresh rate represents a breakthrough—previous RGB stripe OLED panels maxed out around 60Hz. Dynamic Frequency & Resolution (DFR) technology enables switching between 4K 240Hz and FHD 480Hz modes, offering flexibility for different gaming scenarios.

Primary RGB Tandem 2.0: The Game-Changer

All 2026 gaming OLED panels feature upgraded Primary RGB Tandem 2.0 technology stacking two independent OLED emission layers. This delivers 1,500 nits peak brightness (matching high-end Mini-LED while maintaining perfect blacks), HDR True Black 500 certification, 99.5% DIC color gamut, and significantly reduced burn-in risk by distributing electrical load across dual stacks.

The optimized pixel structure and advanced algorithms in Tandem 2.0 represent meaningful improvements over last year’s original Primary RGB Tandem, making 2026 gaming monitors dramatically brighter and longer-lasting than current-gen panels.

CES 2026 Showcase

LG Display unveils these panels January 6-9 at CES 2026 in Las Vegas. Monitor manufacturers like LG Electronics, ASUS, MSI, and others will incorporate these panels into finished products launching throughout 2026, with availability expected Q2-Q3 for most models.
