Xiaomi has a habit of launching new budget audio devices in its homeland China, and now it has launched the successor to its much loved Redmi AirDots. The new Redmi AirDots 3 has been launched at a rock bottom price of just 199 yuan or $31.
Although Xiaomi seems to have increased the pricing with every launch, the new AirDots 3 brings some important new features. The first Redmi AirDots TWS earbuds launched at 99 yuan, while the Redmi AirDots 2 had an initial crowdfunding price of just 79 yuan but rose to 99 yuan afterward.
However, considering the price increase of products these days, quality TWS earbuds at 199 yuan or $31 is still very affordable. The biggest upgrade has come in the form of the new Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity that should bring a huge improvement to signal quality, latency, and connectivity with devices.
The Qualcomm QCC3040 processor has been used in the earbuds this time to provide better power efficiency and enhanced audio playback support with aptX Adaptive audio decoding. Xiaomi has also improved the battery life significantly, the earbuds themselves providing 7 hours of audio playback and with the charging case it goes up to 30 hours.
The 600-mAh battery inside the case can be charged via the USB-C port in 1.5 hours, and also, the earbuds now come with touch controls. It also comes with Waer detection, which means whenever you leave the earphones, the music stops playing and resumes when you wear it back.
In terms of audio, you have ring-iron dual units for better bass, and treble details feature Environment Noise Reduction technology for improved call clarity in noisy surroundings. Also, the TWS earbuds come with an IPX4 rating and will be available in black, bright pink, and white colors; Xiaomi will make the Redmi AirDots 3 available in China from March 4.
