Chelsea are looking at a new striker and centre-back for the upcoming transfer window and are planning for something big this summer. They are really happy with Tuchel now, especially since he has been unbeaten since taking the reins at Stamford Bridge.
There have been links with Erling Haaland, and that Tammy Abraham is hesitant to extend his contract at the club owing to the team’s pursuit of Haaland.
Elsewhere on the striker front, Olivier Giroud is one of the best professionals and has been a starter in recent games, with his bicycle kick goal against Atletico Madrid proving to be an instant headline-maker. Many clubs were talking with him, but he has always been respectful with Chelsea.
Speaking on the transfer front for the French international, Fabrizio Romano said on the Here We Go podcast that Juventus want Giroud. They were planning on offering €5 million for the player, and it was a good proposal but Giroud and Chelsea said no. The player wanted to stay and complete the season. Juventus boss Andrea Pirlo is an avid admirer of the striker and wants him at the club in the summer.
Declan Rice will not be a target anymore now that Frank Lampard is gone. West Ham United asked for €80 million for the England international, and Chelsea were hence forced to back out of a deal for their former player. Next summer will be interesting because Thomas Tuchel will be wanting to shake up the squad.
