Why Netflix Renewed So Quickly

The series performed exceptionally well among Netflix comedies, with only “Nobody Wants This” beating it for views in the second week. That’s impressive considering the streaming landscape is packed with content fighting for attention.

The show follows six friends whose regular vacations get complicated when Nick divorces his wife Anne and brings his much younger girlfriend Ginny along. It’s based on the 1981 Alan Alda film but brings a fresh, modern twist to the friendship dynamics.

What to Expect in Season 2

Here’s where things get juicy. Co-creator Tracy Wigfield hinted that Ginny’s pregnancy with Nick’s child will be a major storyline, especially her relationship with Anne since their children will be siblings. With Nick’s unexpected death in season one, Ginny will navigate motherhood solo while Anne processes decades of marriage ending.

Potential storylines include:

Ginny’s pregnancy journey through different seasons
Nick’s will and inheritance drama (hedge fund fortune at stake!)
Anne finding love again after 25 years of marriage
Kate and Jack continuing to repair their relationship
Danny and Claude reconsidering parenthood

The baby storyline could create fascinating tension, especially around Nick’s estate. Will his money go to daughter Lila? How much support will the new baby receive? These questions add delicious drama to the comedy.

Cast Updates

Everyone except Steve Carell is expected back, including Tina Fey, Will Forte, Kerri Kenney, Colman Domingo, Marco Calvani, and Erika Henningsen. The creators expressed in a joint statement their gratitude that audiences share their “love of cozy sweaters, drinks by the ocean, and picking fights in a hot tub” – perfectly capturing the show’s vibe.
