Kick Off Right: 5 Game-Changing Beginner Tips for Inazuma Eleven Victory Road

After 25 years since the original series started, Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road finally dropped on November 13, 2024, blending RPG mechanics with hyper-stylized football action. With over 105 characters, 550+ Hissatsu techniques, and multiple game modes, newcomers can feel overwhelmed. Here are five essential tips that’ll transform you from bench-warmer to MVP in no time.

Inazuma Eleven Essential Info for New Players

1. Exploit the Level Difference Bonus

Here’s the counterintuitive secret: build a squad with mostly level one players along with a few high-level characters you want to train, and when you join ranked matches with such a team, you’ll face much stronger opponents and earn a huge XP multiplier that will level up your characters quickly.

Yes, you’ll lose most matches initially, but during the early game, it isn’t recommended to worry about losing ranked matches—instead, prioritize grinding XP to help your desired characters reach target levels and unlock new abilities. This exploits Victory Road’s generous “underdog bonus” system where weaker teams gain exponentially more experience.

2. Master Shot Chains for Easy Goals

Shot Chains are the most effective scoring method in the game—you can trigger them by passing the ball between forwards, which grants a massive boost to your goal chances. This mechanic rewards strategic passing over solo runs.

Position your strikers close together, pass rapidly between them as they approach the goal, and watch the Shot Chain indicator build. When it triggers, even mediocre shooters can overwhelm top-tier goalkeepers.

3. Don’t Ignore Your Build Type

During character creation, your Build Type provides crucial bonuses when specific conditions are met. To improve team-wide performance, consider building a squad with the same Build Type to amplify the results.

The five Build Types are:

• Breach: Enhanced shooting power against goalkeepers
• Counter: Stat boost from defensive blocks
• Bond: Charge powerful shots through consecutive passes
• Tension: Stats increase as the Tension Meter fills
• Rough Play: Reduced foul rate for aggressive tackles

Synergizing your team around one Build Type creates devastating combinations that outperform random assemblies.

4. Understand Passive Activation Rules

Here’s a costly mistake beginners make: passives only work when the character is on the field—if your drop-boosting players are sitting on the bench, their effects don’t activate.

Always ensure characters with valuable passive abilities (XP boost, item drop rate, Spirit farming) are actually playing. Bench players contribute nothing beyond substitution options.

5. Prioritize Chronicle Mode for Rewards

While ranked matches provide the fastest XP gains, Chronicle Mode offers balanced progression with multiple rewards. Completing Rare Drop Battles and later Hero Battles in Chronicle Mode can be just as effective for leveling and also nets you Training Beans, Hero/Legendary Spirits.

Chronicle Mode also lets you reenact legendary matches from the entire franchise with a time-traveling narrative, making it both profitable and nostalgic.
