Borussia Dortmund have to sell either one of Sancho or Haaland during the summer transfer window, according to Fabrizio Romano and Francesco Porzio on the Here We Go podcast on Patreon. If they won’t qualify for the Champions League next season, then they will surely have to let go of one of their prized assets.
Jason Sancho is more likely to leave the club because Manchester United were so close to signing him during the 2020 summer transfer window, and the Red Devils will potentially return to complete the task that they set out to do.
The asking price will be an interesting metric to watch since Sancho’s performances have dropped and Borussia Dortmund still maintain that it’s the same €120 million marks, but it could be one to watch out.Â
Many rumours about Haaland leaving the club at the end of the season have been doing the rounds, but he is happy at Dortmund. If they don’t qualify for the Champions League, though, things could change. The main target for Dortmund is keeping Haaland.
The striker does indeed have a release clause in his contract, but it comes into effect from 2022. And that is when clubs all across the continent are expected to line up to sign the player.
Dortmund currently find themselves in 6th place, with 32 points from 20 games, 16 points behind league leaders Bayern Munich and 4 away from Eintracht Frankfurt in 4th. The Schwarzgelben next host Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
