Celtics’ Jaylen Brown makes league history with an explosive performance

The Boston Celtics went through a tough week which included back-to-back losses to their Eastern Conference rivals, the Philadelphia 76ers. Jayson Tatum was also sidelined because of the coronavirus. On Sunday, they managed to bounce back, defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers 141-103 to get back in the win column.

The win was mostly thanks to Jaylen Brown, who continued his game breakout season pouring in 33 points in just 19 minutes. He made 13 of his 21 shot attempts, including a 3-of-4 Mark from beyond the three-pointer arc.

With Boston in complete control of the game pretty much since the beginning, head coach Brad Stevens took advantage of the opportunity to get his starters some more rest, so Brown did not even check-in for the fourth quarter.

The 24-year-old budding star set a single-game NBA record for the most number of points ever scored in under 20 minutes of playing time since the advent of the shot clock era began back in 1954.

This season, Jaylen Brown has now scored 30 or more points in a game five times. The only two 40-point games of his career have also come this season, including a career-high of 44 points against the Memphis Grizzlies in December.

Currently, Brown is averaging career-highs in both scoring and assists. He is also putting up 27.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game on 53.2% shooting.

After Sunday’s game at TD Garden, he earned a shoutout from one of Boston’s greatest legends: Bill Russell. Russell took to Twitter to write, ”Great playing tonight @FCHWPO keep it going.”
