BLACKPINK’s Lisa Earns Her First U.S. Gold Certification as a Soloist with “ROCKSTAR”

BLACKPINK’s Lisa just added another milestone to her already impressive solo career. The Thai superstar has officially earned her first RIAA gold certification as a solo artist, proving that her transition from K-pop group member to independent powerhouse is going exactly as planned.

BLACKPINK’s Lisa: The Golden Achievement

On October 4, 2024, Lisa’s label LLOUD announced exciting news that sent fans worldwide into celebration mode. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) awarded her 2024 single “ROCKSTAR” an official gold certification, recognizing over 500,000 equivalent units sold in the United States.

This marks a historic moment for Lisa—”ROCKSTAR” becomes her first song ever to receive official RIAA certification as a solo artist, cementing her place in the competitive U.S. music market.

Breaking Down the Numbers

What Makes “ROCKSTAR” Special?

Released on June 27, 2024, through LLOUD and RCA Records, “ROCKSTAR” serves as the lead single from Lisa’s debut studio album “Alter Ego”. The track showcases Lisa’s versatility as both a rapper and singer, blending hip-hop elements with contemporary production.

The song’s success wasn’t overnight—it was built on Lisa’s established fanbase, her magnetic stage presence, and strategic marketing through her newly established label LLOUD. By launching her own company, Lisa took creative control of her career, a bold move that’s clearly paying dividends.

The Journey to Gold

Achieving gold certification in the United States isn’t easy, especially for international artists. The U.S. market is notoriously competitive, with countless releases vying for listener attention every week. For Lisa to reach this milestone demonstrates not just her talent, but her ability to connect with American audiences on a meaningful level.

The song debuted at number four on the Billboard Global 200 and reached number one on the Global Excluding U.S. chart, showing its worldwide appeal. These chart positions laid the foundation for the sustained sales that eventually led to gold certification.

Lisa’s Solo Evolution

Lisa’s solo journey began years ago with singles like “LALISA” and “MONEY,” but “ROCKSTAR” represents a new chapter. Under her own label LLOUD, she has complete artistic freedom to shape her image and sound. This independence is rare in K-pop and demonstrates Lisa’s confidence in her vision.

The RIAA gold certification validates her decision to go independent. It proves she doesn’t need the backing of a major K-pop entertainment company to succeed internationally—her talent and fanbase speak for themselves.

What This Means for K-pop

Lisa’s achievement opens doors for other K-pop artists considering solo ventures outside traditional company structures. It shows that with the right strategy, authentic artistry, and dedicated fanbase, international success is achievable on your own terms.

The RIAA certification also highlights K-pop’s continued growth in the U.S. market. As more Korean artists earn American certifications, the genre’s influence on global pop culture becomes undeniable.

The Road Ahead

With “ROCKSTAR” certified gold and her debut album “Alter Ego” on the horizon, Lisa’s solo career trajectory looks incredibly promising. This first RIAA certification likely won’t be her last—it’s a launchpad for future achievements.

Industry experts predict that as Lisa continues releasing music under LLOUD, she’ll accumulate more certifications, potentially reaching platinum status with future releases. Her combination of BLACKPINK’s established fanbase and her individual star power creates a unique advantage in the competitive music landscape.
