Caris LeVert, who was newly acquired by the Indiana Pacers, will remain out indefinitely after an MRI revealed a mass on his left kidney during a physical to compete for this week’s blockbuster four-team trade including the Houston Rockets, Brooklyn Nets, Indiana Pacers and Cleveland Cavaliers.

On Saturday, team officials made an announcement on Twitter. They said LeVert will “undergo further medical tests and more details will follow as needed.”

Following the announcement, LeVert also made the following announcement:

“On behalf of my family and myself, we want to thank the Indiana Pacers for their support and guidance. We are grateful for their extreme thoroughness during the physical processes and I am looking forward to joining the team and being part of this great organization as soon as possible.”

LeVert was expected to replace Oladipo and hello replace forward T.J Warren, who is also out indefinitely after having surgery to fix a stress fracture in his left foot.

Kevin Pritchard, Indiana Pacers President of Basketball Operations said, “We acquired Caris because of who he is as a young man first and foremost.” “His basketball skill and on court play speaks for itself and we know he has a great career ahead of him. We will support Caris through this time and know that he will join us on the court as soon as he is able,” he added.

The Pacers are 8-4 currently in the season, which is half a game away from first place in the Eastern Conference. LeVert’s scoring totals increased in each of his four seasons in the league despite largely coming off the bench. He was averaging 18.5 points, 6.0 assists and 4.3 rebounds – the last two categories being career bests.
