Xiaomi India Launches Eco-Village Initiative for Rural Growth

The program kicks off with pilot projects in K. Palasandra (Tumakuru) and Sonnenahalli (near Bengaluru), with a third site in Salarpur Kalan, Noida launching next month. These strategically chosen villages, each housing 4,000-8,500 residents, face common challenges like water scarcity and inadequate waste infrastructure.

Foundation stone-laying ceremonies on August 4-5, 2025, marked the formal launch, initiating construction of solid waste management centers and water body rejuvenation projects.

Sudhin Mathur, COO of Xiaomi India, emphasized: “The Eco-Village initiative reflects our long-term commitment to India by using our engineering mindset to address real on-ground challenges. This program represents a step toward building stronger, more resilient communities.”

Collaborating with Shri Mahakal Education and Charitable Trust (BharatCares), Xiaomi leverages local expertise and community connections. Bhomik Shah, Managing Trustee of BharatCares, highlighted their commitment to “empowering communities with innovative solutions, fostering harmony between progress and the planet.”
