91st BCCI AGM: Roger Binny named President, Women’s IPL approved and more

The 91st Annual General Meeting of the BCCI was held at the Taj Palace hotel in Mumbai today. 

Former Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) President Roger Binny has been named the successor of Sourav Ganguly as the president of the BCCI. The 67-year-old becomes the 36th president of the Indian Cricket Board following their annual general meeting.

The meeting resulted in a confirmation that the Women’s Indian Premier League will be organised in the coming year. No set date has been finalised, but March is being rumoured as a possible date for the tournament. 

The Senior Men’s Future Tour Programs for 2023-2027 and Senior Women’s Future Tour Programs for 2022-2025 were also agreed upon by the general body.

BCCI Annual General Meeting: Key Decisions Revealed 

The meeting also saw treasurer Ashish Shelar, vice-president Rajeev Shukla and joint secretary Devjit Saikia be elected unopposed. Jay Shah will also continue as the secretary of the board.

Important financial decisions such as the budget for the 2022/23 financial year and the financial report for 21/22 were also audited and approved. 

The BCCI also confirmed that they would not be nominating any candidate for the role of the ICC Chairman. The deadline for nomination is October 20, and it seems like India will not be sending any member of their board for the top job in world cricket.
