Honda Cars India is currently enjoying good export numbers of the Elevate SUV. The company’s entry-level model, the Honda Amaze, has also been reported as being in development and due on sale in 2024. These rumors have now been substantiated as spy shots of what could be the third-generation Honda Amaze being tested in India, yet again.
Third-Generation Honda Amaze Spotted
Honda test vehicles are generally kept pretty well covered up but the Indian people who have managed to procure all of these images of this latest prototype. It is understood that the third-gen Amaze will be underpinned by a tweaked version of the platform shared with City and Elevate, which should help in bringing synergy benefits in research or development as well as manufacturing across multiple models.
Most of the intrigue visible in these spy shots (which are largely hidden beneath camouflage) revolved around a few new details. The tail lights are entirely new with a horizontal design and the rear headrests will also be height adjustable, which is missing in the current generation Amaze. The new Amaze, though has the silhouette of a second-generation model with similar door frames. More spy images in the future might tell us more about that sedan. The test vehicle also shows emission testing equipment, suggesting the possibility of CNG powertrains or a new engine setup.
The third-gen Amaze has been designed using elements from various Honda models. The sedan should receive a few interior updates as well, starting with the adoption of a free-standing infotainment system that appears larger than what’s already available. The Amaze is a sturdy vehicle even so it can do with much more improved perceived quality and provide some other features on board such as rear AC vents, leatherette upholstery, and a front armrest.
As for powertrains, the third-gen Amaze is highly likely to miss out on a 1.0L turbo petrol engine from Honda’s global line-up. Rather, it could come with tried and tested engines such as the 1.2L or 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol motors seen on the City and Raise respectively. The car might come with manual and CVT transmission options. The exact timeline for launch is unofficial at the moment, however, it could be introduced by late 2024 or early 2025 competing with models like Hyundai Aura Tata Tigor and upcoming Maruti Suzuki Dzire.
