AMD presented their full new laptop product lineup this week at CES 2023, including their very first mobile RDNA3 GPUs and Zen4 CPUs. Furthermore, the business announced new Ryzen 7000 desktop CPUs, including the highly anticipated 3D V-Cache variants. What was lacking at CES 2023 was an update to the desktop GPU product stack, which is now limited to two expensive RX 7900 variants.

Around the same time, NVIDIA unveiled its desktop GeForce RTX 4070 Ti GPU, the first card based on the new architecture to cost less than $800, making it even more affordable than the RX 7900 series, which starts at $899. As a result of this announcement, AMD released a new PowerPoint comparing the Radeon RX 7900 XT with a scaled-down Navi 31 GPU to the RTX 4070 Ti.

Radeon RX 7900 XT

According to independent tests, the Radeon RX 7900 XT is faster than the 4070 Ti, which is not surprising given that it has 8GB more memory and a 67% wider memory bus.

However, the difference is rather minimal, ranging between 4% and 10% depending on the resolution. Furthermore, because the Radeon GPU costs $100 more, the price per dollar differential is much lower.

AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT review: The Decoy effect

The supply of NVIDIA’s newest card is considerably better than expected, and the card is still available in the United States and Europe. More crucially, even two days after launch, the card is still available at MSRP, which we are no longer accustomed to seeing with current GPU releases. The same is true with the RX 7900 XT.

AMD also claims that their Radeon RX 7900 XTX GPU outperforms the RTX 4080. When it comes to price, things are considerably worse in our country. Neither the RX 7900 XTX nor the RTX 4080 are available for $1000, and even if they are, the scale is significantly lower than the 7900XT/4070Ti.
