Manchester United have terminated Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract by mutual agreement, as confirmed by their official website.

The club have been forced to cancel the striker’s contract after his interview with Piers Morgan, where he publicly called out the owners, board, manager and his teammates.

“Cristiano Ronaldo is to leave Manchester United by mutual agreement, with immediate effect.

“The club thanks him for his immense contribution across two spells at Old Trafford, scoring 145 goals in 346 appearances, and wishes him and his family well for the future.

Cristiano Ronaldo statement 🚨🇵🇹

“Following talks with Manchester United, we’ve mutually agreed to end our contract.

I love Manchester United and I love the fans, that will never ever change.

It feels like the right time to seek a new challenge.

“Everyone at Manchester United remains focused on continuing the team’s progress under Erik ten Hag and working together to deliver success on the pitch,” the official statement from Manchester United read.

Ronaldo has come under strong criticism for his words against the club. And while it was expected that he wouldn’t be allowed to play for the club again, most people probably didn’t see his exit coming this soon.

Disciplinary issues have plagued the Portugal international’s season, with him walking out of the game against Spurs. He has also said that he doesn’t respect Erik Ten Hag publicly, alongside a series of other such comments.

And after United’s termination of the contract, it remains to be seen where the veteran will play his football in the new year.
