Arsenal were handed their first loss in the Europa League against PSV Eindhoven. The Dutch side picked up a 2-0 win over the Premier League table toppers, ending their winning run for the time being.

And in the process, they also saved themselves a chance to finish at the top of the table and automatically qualify for the knockout stages.

The home team managed to blow Mikel Arteta’s side away in both halves, with goals from Luuk De Jong and Joey Veerman in the second half helping them win all three points.

In their last two games, Arsenal have struggled to win with Southampton holding them to a 1-1 draw prior to the game against PSV Eindhoven.

Arteta fielded a rotated squad in the game, with players like Eddie Nketiah, Fabio Vieira and Rob Holding getting a start. Their lack of playing time this season suggests a lack of flow, which could be one of the main reasons behind their loss.

The return of Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Magalhaes, Bukayo Saka and Thomas Partey to the starting line-up could help restore their fluidity in their next outing.

For now, the North London club will be looking to regroup and get back to winning ways in their game against Nottingham Forest.
