Wolves’ quest for a new head coach led them to Mick Beale of QPR. But, despite having permission from the club to speak to the head coach, they haven’t been able to reach an agreement with him.

Beale signed a three-year contract with QPR in June, and denied the opportunity to move to the Premier League – stating that he wanted to fulfil the project that he is currently committed to.

“Wolves is a fantastic football club and it was a real privilege to be asked to speak to them but I didn’t think it was the right moment because I entered into an agreement here,” Mick Beale told the QPR website.

“Integrity and loyalty are big things for me, and if they are the values you live by you have to be strong. I have been all-in here and I have asked other people to be all-in so I can’t be the first person to run away from the ship.”

QPR are currently at the top of the Championship table, with 27 points from 15 games.

Wolves also approached former Sevilla manager Julen Lopetegui to replace Bruno Lage. However, he rejected the opportunity to move to the Premier League.

As a result, the Midlands club have decided to keep interim manager Steve Davis in charge of the first team until 2023.
