Brazil forward Richarlison is expected to be fit for the World Cup, following a calf injury he sustained in the game against his former club, Everton.

The Tottenham Hotspur forward left the field limping in the 52nd minute of the game, and was seen on crutches after the game ended. It now appears that his World Cup ambitions are in jeopardy since he had been in impressive form, and was expected to be named in the Tite’s squad.

Richarlison facing race against time to be fit for World Cup

“It’s kind of hard to say because it’s close to the realisation of my dream [the World Cup]. I’ve already suffered a similar injury to this but I hope it can heal as soon as possible. The last time when I was at Everton, I was out of action for about two months,” Richarlison said about his injury.

“I know it’s hard to talk at this moment, but let’s see, I’ll recover. I have a scan on Monday but even walking hurts. I have to stay positive if I want to go to Qatar.

And in a press conference, Antonio Conte confirmed that the calf injury is not that serious:

“The player is not risking to miss the World Cup, absolutely not,” Conte said on Monday.

“He has an injury but it is not a serious injury. I hope he can play games for us before the World Cup.”
