AMD Radeon RX 7000 Series might be launching in December 2022

According to ECSM, a reliable leaker who accurately predicted the launch date for Intel’s Raptor Lake processors earlier this year, AMD could formally unveil its next-generation Radeon RX 7000-series graphics cards based on the RDNA 3 architecture in November and make them available for purchase in December. The data supports AMD’s aim to introduce the aforementioned graphics processor units this year.

The leaker just stated that the product launch event would take place in November; no precise date was provided. He did, however, say that AMD’s flagship and sub-flagship RDNA 3 graphics card would probably begin selling in the second half of December.

Although ECSM did not explain whether by flagship and sub-flagship he meant graphics cards or graphics processing units, given AMD’s track record, we would bet on genuine add-in-boards.

If this is the case, AMD is likely to produce two graphics cards on its base, which will likely join the stable of the greatest graphics cards for gaming, along with its top-of-the-line Navi 31 GPU. While this is going on, ECSM believes AMD will find it challenging to compete with Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card given its considerable performance improvement over the previous generation. He therefore does not anticipate AMD’s premium graphics product to have a high price.

We would anticipate the performance gap between AMD’s and Nvidia’s flagship products to be significantly smaller than the gap between the Radeon RX 6900 XT and the GeForce RTX 4090, given that AMD’s Navi 31 will use the company’s brand-new RDNA 3 architecture, a brand-new chiplet design, and feature a 384-bit memory bus.

Assume the data is accurate and AMD plans to launch the sale of two Radeon RX 7000-series graphics boards in the second half of December.

In that situation, we can only speculate as to whether they will be readily accessible and priced as advised this year. Since product ramps typically take time, it’s possible that AMD’s high-end, next-generation products won’t be widely available in calendar year 2022, particularly over the Christmas season.

AMD has consistently said that its 2022 desktop PC GPUs will be based on the next-generation RDNA 3 architecture. This strategy was reaffirmed in mid-September at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference by Ruth Cotter, the company’s SVP in charge of marketing, human resources, and investor relations.
