Juventus suffered a surprise defeat to Maccabi Haifa in the Champions League last night, which all but ended their hopes of making it to the knockout stages.

The Italian side have suffered their worst start to a Champions League campaign in a long time. But, they are refusing to sack head coach Max Allegri over the poor results in Europe and domestically.

Juventus still backing Massimiliano Allegri despite poor form

Massimiliano Allegri is our head coach and he will stay,’ president Andrea Agnelli told Sky Italia after Tuesday’s defeat.

Massimiliano Allegri: “I’m not gonna step down, absolutely — because it’s a challenge now. When it gets harder, it’s even more beautiful”, tells Sky Sport. 🚨⚪️⚫️ #Juventus

‘I feel ashamed and angry… so in this kind of situation you can’t blame one single person, it’s the whole group.’

The squad is currently divided in support of Allegri. The likes of Juan Cuadrado, Wojciech Szczesny, Danilo, Mattia De Sciglio and Mattia Perin are all in support of the head coach continuing.

However, newer players like Filip Kostic, Angel Di Maria, Dusan Vlahovic and Gleison Bremer have found it hard to support his tactics. Moreover, the likes of Manuel Locatelli and Weston McKennie have also had a breakdown in their relationship with the manager.

With the Juventus squad divided, it is going to be a long season for the fans. Results on the pitch have been far from encouraging, and the same can be said about the type of football being played. Due to financial reasons, it seems like Juventus are stuck with Allegri until they can afford to sack and replace him.
