Manchester City have reached an agreement with Phil Foden and his agents for a contract renewal. The player has decided to continue with Manchester City for at least the next five years.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the agreement was made in principle in September. Only the final details are being discussed between the two parties on terms such as image rights. And it will soon be agreed totally, which means that there is little discussion about the Englishman leaving the club.

The youngster recently scored a hat-trick against local rivals Manchester United in the 6-3 win for the Sky Blues. In the process, he took his goal tally to six goals across all competitions. And so, he is enjoying a remarkable season, especially in terms of the numbers.

Foden is considered a vital part of the sporting project at Manchester City, and is untouchable on the transfer market. He graduated from their academy, and is expected to build on his highly rated youth in the coming years.

The 22-year-old will have to shoulder more responsibility in the coming years, as he becomes a more senior player. With the performances he is putting in this season, it is very likely that he seals a spot in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the World Cup.
