Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 featuring the Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 SoC launched

Xiaomi has launched the MIX Fold 2 in China along with a couple of other devices such as the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition, Pad 5 Pro 12.4, the Watch S1 Pro, and the Buds 4 Pro. The MIX Fold 2 marks the company’s second generation of foldable smartphones. It succeeds the MIX Fold that came out last year. It will compete against the Galaxy Z Fold4, Oppo’s Find N, and the Vivo Fold X.

The MIX Fold 2 arrives with a unique rear panel design in comparison to its predecessors, it has a horizontal camera module that has exclusively been made by Leica, and it has also integrated a triple camera setup on the rear. The Leica setup comprises a 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor, a 13MP ultrawide angle lens, and an 8MP telephoto lens with up to 2x zoom.

The camera can record 8K video along with Dolby Vision HDR format recording and the foldable device has a volume rocker button along with the power buttons on the right spine. The power button doubles up as a fingerprint scanner made by Goodix.

The device is 5.4mm thick when unfolded and when folded, it has 11.2mm. It weighs 262g. The mix Fold 2’s outer display is a 6.5″ Samsung E5 AMOLED panel with an FHD+ resolution along with a 120Hz refresh rate.

The display has a layer of the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus which when unfolded measures 8.2″ and offers a 2.5K resolution with a 120Hz refresh rate as well. The interior display arrives with ultra-thin glass and an under-display camera.

The interior and outer displays arrive with support for Dolby Vision, with a peak brightness of 1,000 nits along with TrueColor. The MIX Fold2 has the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen1 chip paired with 12GB RAM and up to 1TB storage. The device has a 4,500mAh battery with support for 67W fast charging. It runs on Android 12 OS with MIUI 13- on top.

The Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 arrives in Black and Gold color options, it retails for Yuan 8,999 or Rs.1,06,218 for the base 12GB RAM+256GB version while the 512GB and 1TB version retails for Yuan 9,999 or Rs.1,17,993, and Yuan 11,999 or Rs.1,41,624. The device can be pre-booked as of now but the sale will begin on the 16th of August.
