All the details of Robert Lewandowski’s move to Barcelona: Now made official

Robert Lewandowski has been announced as a new Barcelona player, after an agreement with Bayern Munich for his transfer. The striker made it clear at the end of the previous season that he wanted to move to Camp Nou, and has now fulfilled his ambition.

The German club will receive around €45 million up-front with €5 million available in the form of add-ons. Barcelona have agreed a contract with the 33-year-old until 2025 with the option for a further season. He will receive a salary worth €9 million per season over the three years.

Robert Lewandowski joins Barcelona at last

“Xavi told me that we’ll work well together and can achieve a lot. He has a clear plan on how to bring Barcelona back to the top – I’m at Barça for trophies,” Robert Lewandowski told Bild.

“I know I’ll be 34 soon. But I feel very strong physically and mentally.”

Considering that Barcelona are currently in a rebuilding phase, trophies might not be the most realistic ambition. However, with the kind of talent that the club has recruited, it cannot be ruled out.

Xavi is in possession of a very talented set of players in all positions. It is now up to him to get the results on the pitch and lead the team towards silverware. The Poland striker will no doubt be a huge advantage for the team heading into the new season, as he takes up a new challenge in his career.
