Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United thrash Liverpool by 4-0: Here are some key points of the game for the Red Devils

Manchester United have started their journey under their new Dutch manager Erik ten Hag in an incredible way as they thrashed their English Premier League rivals, Liverpool, by a 4-0 margin.

Manchester United started their pre-season campaign through the Thailand tour, where they faced Liverpool at Rajamangala Stadium in the Bangkok Centenary Cup. Jadon Sancho (12’), Fred (30’) and Anthony Martial (33’) scored the goals for the Red Devils in the first half, while the 20-year-old winger Facundo Pellistri (76’) added the other goal for the Manchester Red.

With that thrashing 4-0 win, Man United started their Tour 2022 by clinching the Bangkok Centenary Cup.

A total of 22 players appeared for Manchester United in that game, including major regular names in the side.

In their many experiments during that game, Liverpool also fielded their many regular faces, including Alisson, Joel Matip, Mohamed Salah, Jordan Henderson, Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner, Thiago, Roberto Firmino along with the talented newcomers Fabio Carvalho, Darwin Nunez etc. But they failed to beat the new management side.

Erik ten Hag managed Manchester United for the first time, and his team had a powerful result. Many players impressed with their performances during that game.

Here we are briefly talking about some key points for Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United in the game.

De Gea with desperate hands

The scoreline can’t tell you the story of Liverpool’s attack. They had exactly the two-time more total shots than Man United with 18 shots but only managed four shots on target (one shot on target less than the Red Devils). Though the defenders struggled to handle the Reds’ attacks, experienced goal-keeper David De Gea confidently showed his skills with the gloves.

The desperate Spanish goalkeeper De Gea later got a hand injury scare as Tom Heaton successfully replaced him for the last 22 minutes as Man United finished the game with a clean sheet.

Alex Telles surprised as centre-back

Brazilian left-back Alex Telles was experimented as a centre-back during the second half of the game. Despite some early mistakes, the substitute footballer impressed in that crucial role as the United defence has got a new option.

Outstanding Eric Bailly

The centre-back Eric Bailly played an important role for the Red Devils in the second half. Apart from successfully handling Liverpool’s threatening attacks, Bailly also set up the counter-attack that resulted in their fourth goal of the game.
