Real Madrid 1-0 Liverpool: Record 14th Champions League title for Los Blancos

Real Madrid have won the Champions League for the 14th time in their history, defeating Liverpool 1-0 in Paris. The match started with a delay after Liverpool fans had difficulty getting into the stadium. But, their effort was in vain; the record-holders extended their tally with a win in the final.

Vinicius Jr scored the match-winning goal after he found himself unmarked on the far post. The Brazilian tapped in a low cross from Fede Valverde after Trent Alexander-Arnold was caught off guard by the winger to score in the second half.

Real Madrid won the Champions League the last time by winning against Liverpool in 2018, and the same outcome has taken place four years later in a repeat of the final.

Real Madrid win the 21-22 Champions League

Carlo Ancelotti became the only manager in the history of football to win four Champions League titles. In his first spell with Los Blancos, he led the team to La Decima, their tenth Champions League trophy. And now, he has led them to their fourteenth.

Liverpool dominated possession in the first half, and were the ones on the front foot throughout. But, Thibaut Courtois emerged as the hero for the 14-time winners, making as many as nine saves to keep a clean sheet and win the title for his side. He is the first goalkeeper to make this many saves in a Champions League final.

There were several chances for Liverpool to take the lead and change the course of the game. But a lack of clinical finishing from them proved to be costly in the end.
