The City e:HEV has been unveiled for the Indian market by Honda. Bookings for Honda’s powerful hybrid sedan are officially open, with the City e:HEV set to debut in May 2022. The Honda City Hybrid is the most fuel-efficient compact car in the country, with a stated fuel efficiency of 26.5kmpl.

The Honda City e:HEV has a hybrid system that charges itself. The City e:1.5L HEV’s petrol engine is paired with two electric motors. One motor serves as a starter-generator, directing power from the engine to the batteries, while the other, known as the traction motor, drives the wheels. Most of the time, the electric motor sends power to the wheels. The clutch, on the other hand, is engaged when the engine’s power is required.

The City e:HEV hybrid has a combined power output of 126PS when it comes to performance. Between 0 and 3000rpm, the electric motor produces a peak torque of 253Nm. The City Hybrid sedan’s top speed is limited to 176 kilometres per hour. Honda also stated that the e:HEV powertrain is 40-45 percent more efficient than its competitors in terms of thermal efficiency.

Honda has given the City e:HEV a few distinguishing features in terms of appearance to set it distinct from the normal City. The Honda emblem, front grille, fog lamp garnish, rear diffuser, and boot lip spoiler all have blue surrounds, as well as ‘e:HEV’ badging. The City e:HEV, on the other hand, lacks the sporty RS body package seen on the Thai-spec City e:HEV.

The utility package comprises front and rear bumper protection, as well as door handle protectors, door edge garnish, and body side mouldings. The chrome package, on the other hand, comprises front bumper side garnishes, trunk garnishes, tail lamp garnishes, and lower door garnishes. A bucket mat, floor mat, pillows, key chain, emergency hammer, and microfibre cloth are included in the basic pack. Customers can also have a body cover, city logo projector, legroom lamp, and front bumper centre garnish after the debut.

The lithium-ion battery pack will be covered by a 3-year unlimited-kilometre guarantee and an 8-year limited warranty from Honda. In May 2022, Honda will release the City e:HEV powerful hybrid sedan. Reservations and test drives are presently available. For the time being, the City e:HEV will have no direct competitors. The Honda City, which is available in both petrol and diesel engines, competes with the Hyundai Verna, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Skoda Slavia, and the future Volkswagen Virtus.
