Hyderabad FC defeated Mumbai City FC 2-1 to knock them out of the race for the semifinals. Here are the three talking points from the game.

Early attack enough to get the win

Hyderabad FC went ahead 2-0 by the time they went back into the tunnel. Rohit Danu opened the scoring for the team, followed by a calm finish from Joel Chianese, nutmegging Mohammad Nawaz. The Nizams had to put in a very determined display against their opponents, and they ended up getting rewarded with three points for their efforts.

Jamshedpur FC, ATK Mohun Bagan, Hyderabad FC and Kerala Blasters are the four semi finalists of the 21/22 ISL season. The defeat for Mumbai City FC in their final game of the season meant that they could not qualify for the last four mathematically, and the winners of the knockout stages will be among one of the top four teams in the division.

Defending champions Mumbai City FC suffer shocking lapse

The Islanders were the favourites to make it to the top four, and even win the league title in the beginning of the season. They had a dominant run at the top of the table for an extended period, but then collapsed with their defensive performances buckling.

No one would have predicted Mumbai City FC not even making the top four, but such is the case for the team given their turn of form.
