Barcelona have offered Cesar Azpilicueta a two-year deal with the option to extend for another year. The player has been demanding the same from Chelsea, but has not gotten what he wants from the Blues as of yet.

Chelsea are only offering him a one-year deal with the option to extend, considering that he is 32 years old and that Reece James is expected to be the new mainstay on the right side of the defense. Azpilicueta has been featuring as one of the right-sided centre-backs in Thomas Tuchel’s back 3, and only has a few months remaining on his current deal.

Cesar Azpilicueta could join Barcelona at the end of the season

The Chelsea captain’s contract expires at the end of the season, but the club want him to stay on. Nothing has been communicated from the player’s side about his future as of yet.

With their recent Club World Cup victory, Cesar Azpilicueta became the first-ever player in Chelsea history to win every trophy available to the club. He was signed in 2012, and has since established himself as a club legend.

Azpilicueta is seemingly in no rush to make his final decision, with Barcelona waiting on him alongside Chelsea. His contract runs out alongside Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, who could both leave at the end of the season.

As of now, he is still a key member of Thomas Tuchel’s defense, and is focused on matters at hand with the Blues.
