Recently Sony’s Santa Monica Studio released one of their most successful franchise games God of War on PC and quickly it has become Steam’s best-seller having played it on PC we get it why. It launched on PC with intense graphics and uses the latest upscaling techniques from both NVIDIA and AMD, however, GeForce gamers also enjoy NVIDIA Reflex that reduces latency.
Mind it, this is a game that was originally launched back in 2018 and launched on PC tables to give the game a more vivid experience as it can use more graphics resources. Already the game was ahead of time in terms of graphics and gameplay so even as a PC release, you will never get bored and yes the impressive storyline is what makes it so special.
The journey of Kratos and his son Atreus to fight for survival in God of War is totally enticing and if you use a new controller like Sony’s DualSense controller, the haptic feedback is great and well-optimized reactions to in-game moments is what makes it even more lifelike.
I played the game using the latest NVIDIA’s RTX 3070 Ti and the experience was even more fluid, thanks to both NVIDIA DLSS and Reflex, like a GeForce gamer you will be able to get a richer experience on PC. Paired with my Ryzen 7 5800X, I was able to get over hundreds of FPS at Ultra settings with DLSS at QHD.
If you want richer and more detailed graphics, God of War is an ideal game to play on your 4K TV or monitor, thanks to DLSS even if your GPU is not that strong to run at 4K high settings, NVIDIA will let you play it over 60FPS at 4K. Even @rahul_roy who has his RTX 3060 Ti was able to play comfortably at 4K with DLSS at Quality and that’s always an added bonus.
However, I like more frames per second to take full advantage of the game and playing at QHD with more FPS at best quality seems an ideal way of experiencing the intense fights of God of War while also enjoying the beauty of the game. Kratos with his son has to live in the Norse woodlands, which is home to monsters and creatures such as ogres, drugs, revenants, reavers, and elves.
As the Norse universe is steeped within a darker and more elemental world, the game is filled with a lot of enemies whom Kratos will defend with his Leviathan Axe while Atreus helps with his bows & arrows. The father & son duo has a relationship in which Kratos teaches Atreus every moment how to fight against odds after his mother’s death.
I was rightfully impressed with the fight scenes depicted and the rich graphics is always welcome, with good frame rates, the fights become more fluid. If you use a DualSense controller, the haptics work like magic if you purchase the game via Steam. Also, you can customize Kratos and Atreus’s gear with time as you gather more items and that helps against enemies.
Obviously, the playing experience is great as you can play with Kratos and use that axe to hit enemies, easily calling it back, giving you a feel of being Thor. However, on PC, the game God of War with powerful graphics options like an RTX 3070 Ti you get a more refined experience, and for PC gamers that’s always welcome.
The best part is the game is well-optimized even for lower hardware as well and even has AMD’s FSR support. So, even if you are playing with an entry-level or mid-range experience, keeping the settings at Original will make the game look good as well. However, the rich graphics is the best to experience at Ultra and with NVIDIA DLSS that is possible on any GeForce RTX GPU.
Overall, the PC release of this 2018 PlayStation Game is a strong message that Sony will also be targeting PC as Microsoft’s Xbox gets stronger. Whereas if you are looking to buy this game, it is a must-have and if you own an RTX GPU and have a DualSense or any officially supported controller, go grab God of War now!
