South African skipper Elgar had a solid performance, was unbeaten on 92 and had the match-winning partnership with Temba Bavuma, the latter scored 23 runs.

On the fourth day, Elgar and Dussen started the day by adding 57 runs to 118/2 from the previous day. Van Der Dussen got dismissed at 40 by Mohammad Shami’s ball.

Bavuma was the next player who came to bat but returned to the pavilion scoring 0. His wicket was taken by Shardul Thakur. Bavuma is one of the top-batters of the team and had a great second-fiddle along with the skipper of the hosts.

The hosts had a good start, Dean Elgar’s performance being constant. He was tested by different kinds of bouncers and paces but his form remained consistent. India had won the toss for the second Test series and chose to bat first. The visitors added 202/10 in the first innings, KL Rahul hitting a half-century and Ashwin stopping at 46.

South Africa added 229 on boards and was leading by 27 runs. Shardul Thakur had got his career’s best figure; 7/26.

Earlier, Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane had a significant partnership in India’s second innings. Both scored half-centuries, adding 100+ runs in the Team’s bucket. However, the team’s performance wasn’t consistent and they kept on losing wickets and finally got all out on 266 runs, with a target of 240 to the South African team.
