India vs South Africa: Match highlights

Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane started the innings. Together, they had a partnership of 50 runs. They had taken India’s lead past 100 in the 9th over. Cheteshwar Pujara had scored his 32nd Test 50 in just 62 balls. Rahane had hit two consecutive boundaries for Oliver and got his 25th half century.

After the drinks break, Rabada dismissed Rahane on just 58. Rabada again dismissed Pujara with LBW on just 53 runs. Ashwin scored 16 on just 14 balls but soon Ngidi dismissed him and India had a figure of 186/6 with a lead of 161. Shardul Thakur had a very impactful performance, with four boundaries and a six but after that he got dismissed by Marco Jansen. After that, Vihari and Mohammad Shami took India team past 200 runs but Shami got dismissed for a duck Jansen off Ngidi 7. Vihari scored 40 runs not out. South Africa needed 240 runs to win. Opening batters Aiden Markram and Dean Elgar took their team to 34/0 after 7 hours at the tea. A few overs later, Thakur took Markram’s wicket on just 31 runs. Elgar and Peterson had a strong bonding but Ashwin dismissed Peterson on 28 runs. Elgar and Rassie van der Dussen played the last phase, added 25 runs for the third wicket their respective scores are 46 and 11 (not out). South Africa in the end had a figure of 118/2 and need 122 runs to win and stay alive in the series.
