Anthony Martial could move to Atletico Madrid in exchange for Kieran Trippier

Manchester United and Atletico Madrid are set to face each other in the Round of 16 of the Champions League. But, they could be involved in a transfer deal soon. The player expected to move is Anthony Martial, who has been linked away from Old Trafford in recent weeks. 

According to Eurosport, Atletico Madrid are planning to use one of their players as makeweight. While there are no players mentioned in the report by Eurosport, Kieran Trippier is a potential candidate to make the switch to England.

The former Tottenham player has been linked with Manchester United in the past. And now he could be on his way to the club as part of the deal for Martial. United were reportedly trying to sign him this past summer, but failed to come to an agreement with Atletico Madrid about his price tag. 

Why Does Anthony Martial want to leave?

Anthony Martial has found playing time very hard to come by both under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, as well as Ralf Rangnick. The German coach has not yet spoken to Martial about a potential move. But, he confirmed that the squad could be reduced in size in the future.

Martial’s agent has confirmed that his client wants a move away from Old Trafford. He also stated that he would be talking to the club about a future transfer. The Frenchman could hence be one of the names headed for the exit door when the January transfer window opens, as a result.
