Liverpool broke a long-standing record in their 4-1 win against Everton

Liverpool defeated their local rivals Everton by 4-1 at Goodison Park. They were clearly the better team and ran rampant against the Toffees to win the game. In doing so, they have established a piece of history which is 39 years old.

This is the first time in almost four decades that Liverpool have scored four goals against Everton for the first time since their 5-0 win in 1982. They were defeated at Anfield by Everton in the derby last season, and this time around, they have extracted the perfect revenge.

Diogo Jota, Jordan Henderson and Mohamed Salah were all on target as the goals came comfortably. Salah in particular has been having a remarkable season. The Egyptian has been scoring goals from the very beginning and is the best player in the Premier League by a margin.

With his brace away at Everton, he became the first Liverpool player in 13 years to score two goals at Goodison Park in the derby. The last player to do so was Fernando Torres back in 2008.

The win against their rivals means that Liverpool are still within touching distance of the top two, Chelsea and Manchester City. With 43 goals in 14 games, Jurgen Klopp’s men are the best attacking force in the league right now. And they are also backing it up with good defense, led by Virgil Van Dijk.

Everton, on the other hand, are slumping in 14th place after earning 15 points from 14 games so far this season.
