Dell has recently launched its Inspiron 14 2-in-1 convertible laptop series with the latest AMD 5000 series processors. The Dell Inspiron 14 7415 2-in-1 convertible laptop comes with AMD Ryzen 5 5500U processors. It has been available in India on Amazon since just 2 weeks.
I have been on a search for a high-performance convertible laptop for my daily usage. I came across these 2-in-1 laptops on Amazon – HP Envy, Lenovo Yoga C640, Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5, ASUS VivoBook Flip 14 (2021) and the recently launched Dell Inspiron 14 7415. I finally bought the Dell Inspiron 14 7415 for these reasons:
- It has AMD Ryzen 5500U processor inside
- Upgradable RAM slot
- Good build quality along with premium touch
- Good battery life
The Dell Inspiron 14 7415 14″ FHD Touch Display 2-in-1 Laptop is a high-performance convertible laptop that is suitable to handle almost every regular work. It comes with pre-installed Windows 10 Home Single Language with lifetime validity and Microsoft Office Home and Student 2019. I bought the Dell Inspiron 14 7415 from Amazon India at around Rs 65,000. This was the best option at this price range for me.

Design and build quality
The Dell Inspiron 14 7415 laptop variant I ordered is of pebble green colour. But one interesting thing is that the laptop lid will come in dark silver colour and only the bottom part of the laptop will be of pebble green metal colour. At first, it looks a bit odd but eventually, the colour combination goes well with the laptop. Dell claims the Pebble Green finish use an environmentally conscious waterborne paint.
The build quality of the laptop is on the premium side. Although it is in the mid-budget segment it will never fell cheap. The 360° hinge is also quite sturdy and you won’t be having any doubts about the hinge breaking. The 360° hinge allows you to seamlessly shift between 4 different modes, providing the flexibility to stay connected throughout. The ergonomically positioned lift hinge also increases comfort for a better typing experience when you are using it as a traditional laptop mode.
The thin design and lightweight make it really easy to carry around everywhere, so you don’t have to compromise on portability. And with Modern Standby, the Dell Inspiron 14 7415 will get you up and running in a flash just by opening the lid.
Physical overview:
On the left, you will HDMI 1.4b, USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A and USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C port which can be used for Power Delivery or DisplayPort.
While on the right side, you will have a Micro SD Reader, USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A and an Audio Jack.
Overall, the design and build quality of the Dell Inspiron 14 7415 is on point. It is very comfortable to use.
Display
The Dell Inspiron 14 7415 features a 14.0-inch FHD (1920 x 1080) Truelife Touch Narrow Border WVA Display. It has a virtually borderless view with thin bezels and an expansive screen-to-body ratio to minimize distractions for a better cinema, document and web browsing experience. The WVA display will allow you to move around freely, lean back, adjust positions and more with wide-viewing angle panels (WVA) without affecting your viewing experience of the FHD IPS touch screen.
The colour gamut of this laptop’s display is NTSC 45% which is good for regular use. Although the brightness of this laptop is 212.50 nits, you won’t find any difficulty in using it indoors. However, if you plan to use it outdoors, you will need a shady place to use it. I have been using it to do my regular work inside my room, and I have faced no difficulties till now and the colour accuracy is also perfect for daily usage.
The touch response of this laptop is great and it provides a seamless experience using it. The digital pen makes it easier to use.
Performance
The Dell Inspiron 14 7415 convertible laptop has AMD Ryzen 5 5500U processor inside. The AMD Ryzen 5 5500U has 6 cores and 12 threads with integrated Radeon Graphics. This is an absolute beast for normal everyday work. It can handle everything you throw at it.
The Dell Inspiron 7415 scored an impressive 1104 points in the single-core score while scoring 4584 in the multi-core section. The AMD Ryzen 5000 series processors are really beasts.
The Cinebench score was also quite outstanding. It scored 2577 points in multi-core and 457 points in Single core and has a 5.64x MP ratio.
My work requires me to open multiple tabs over 20 in some situations, but it didn’t lag for a moment. The laptop also remains cool and doesn’t heat up while regular work. Overall, I am quite satisfied with the performance of the AMD Ryzen 5 5500U processor.
The most important point for me while buying this Laptop was the upgradable RAM option. This is a great option if you want to use this for the long term. The Amazon India detail page claims that you can upgrade it to 32 GB RAM from its initial 8 GB RAM. However, if you just double the RAM to 16 GB it will be enough to go on for the next 4 to 5 years, ideally.
Battery life
The Dell Inspiron 14 7415 comes with a 4-Cell 54WHr Lithium Polymer integrated battery. It averages 10-12 hours of battery life in ideal condition but in real-life scenarios, I experienced a battery backup of around 6-7 hours while surfing the internet and watching movies which is quite good for regular use.
One of the best parts of this laptop is that it has Type C charging. It comes with a 65 Watt Type-C EPEAT Adapter for charging and with ExpressCharge mode it can very quickly charge the laptop which is a really useful feature.
Keyboard and Trackpad
The Dell Inspiron 14 7415 laptop features Carbon English International Backlit Keyboard. The keyboard has been enhanced which include a larger keyboard with 9% bigger keys than the previous generation for a more comfortable typing experience. My everyday work requires a lot of typing and it is quite good for long-typing sessions.
The best thing about the trackpad is its large size compared to the other laptops of this category. The trackpad is big enough to ensure you don’t have any trouble doing your daily work. The touchpad has also been enhanced with new material that has a smooth feel.
My Dell software and Active Pen
My Dell app is a one-stop place for everything related to your Dell Inspiron 14 7415 laptop. You can get all the driver updates from here. The Dell Mobile Connect can also wirelessly connect your phone to this laptop and you can access all your texts, calls, notifications ad apps from the laptop.
The Dell Active Pen is also up to the mark as it makes drawing pretty easy on the laptop. It is a very handy tool.
First Impression and Overiew
I will be bringing a more detailed review of this laptop soon but after using it for a couple of days, I am impressed by the performance of the Dell Inspiron 14 7415 2-in-1 laptop. The AMD Ryzen 5 5500U processor is an absolute beast and can almost handle all everyday work you throw at it. In this price segment, it is one of the best laptops out there, in my opinion.
