It’s no doubt that video conferencing is the new normal for group meetings and getting together. So it doesn’t hurt to have a well-performing webcam, and we all know that most of our devices, especially laptops, have an ultra crappy webcam.

However, Dell has decided to adapt to the realities of the professional video-conferencing of the immediate future with the new UltraSharp webcam. And this webcam has the capabilities to stream in 4K UHD at 30 frames per second (fps; or FHD at 60fps), and its Sony STARVIS 8.3MP camera also confers it.

The new webcam from Dell comes with support from an Advanced Digital Overlap HDR, which is rated to deliver “true-to-life” colours and regulates exposure. Dell also announced that its new webcam could automatically reduce the noise in 2D and 3D, as well as manage the “advanced AI auto framing” that keeps the subject-centred.

It also comes with a field of view adjustment capabilities, and the OEM has offered choices between 65°, 78°, and 90° so that the user can choose how much of their background to show. The OEM has also provided support for services like Google Hangouts, Slack, Skype for Business, Zoom, and of course, the facial recognition and proximity-sensing for Windows Hello and the company’s very own Dell ExpressSign-in.

Speaking about the build of the device, it’s made public that the Dell 4K UltraSharp webcam will have a magnetic mount that allows placement on the top of monitors sported slimmest of bezels. The 4k UltraSharp webcam also has a lens cap-like privacy shutter and a tripod mount. The new USB Type-C 4K webcam is priced at US$199.99 – without a tripod of course.
