Xiaomi’s Mi Phones enjoying huge success in India

The Chinese smartphone giant Xiaomi is enjoying a good time when it comes to selling Mi smartphones in India. Xiaomi was always looked upon as a brand for selling budget phones mostly in the Redmi Note series but for last few years they are making a move to step up the game.

They separated the Redmi and Xiaomi brand, Redmi defined for budget devices while Mi series for more premium end. From Mi 10i to the Mi 10T, the 10 series was quite good for Xiaomi at the start of 2021 and with Mi 11 series, they have again created a new milestone.

The newly launched Mi 11 Lite has made a new record of selling Rs.200 crore worth of smartphones sold in just a week of launch. Dubbed as the slimmest and lightest smartphone, the Mi 11 Lite is a good option for its price; however, it misses 5G support.

Manu Kumar Jain, Global VP of Xiaomi and Managing Director of Xiaomi India, took his Twitter to showcase the huge success of Mi Phones in India this year. He mentioned how Mi 10i is the best-selling 5G smartphone in Rs.20k-30k price segment, while both the new Mi 11X and Mi 11X Pro have seen a combined sale of Rs.300 crore.

This is not unusual as Xiaomi is banking on 5G more and bringing new Mi Phones with better specs for an eye-catchy price. However, Mi smartphones are good at providing almost no ads, which is a ridiculous problem on Redmi phones. With stiff competition from Samsung and OnePlus, the end customer is benefitting.
