After a long wait, East Bengal is finally going to play in ISL this year. East Bengal is getting ready to maintain their legacy in the new league as well from their very first season.
East Bengal has already started to make their team better for the ISL. They have signed some Indian talents like Lalramchullova, Mohammed Rafique, C.K.Vineeth, Balwant Singh, Cavin Lobo, Eugeneson Lyngdoh, Jeje, and many more.
They are also linked with some of the exciting and experienced foreigners. As per new reports, they are set to sign Indian Arrows duo of Harmanpreet Singh and Ricky Shandong. They also want to include Debjit Majumder in their squad for the new season.
Harmanpreet Singh played for the Indian Arrows in I-league last season. The 19-year-old appeared in 14 games for Indian Arrows in last season’s I-league.
Other Indian Arrows teenager Ricky Shabong also represented Indian Arrows in 16 times in last season’s I-league.
Debjit Majumder can be an important addition to the East Bengal side. 2 times I-league champion (2014–15, 2019–20) with Mohun Bagan and 1 time ISL champion (2015-16) can be a good addition to the ‘Red & Gold’ side. Debjit won ‘The Best Goalkeeper’ award in I-League in 2014-45 and 2016-17 seasons.
The addition of East Bengal makes Kolkata the first city to have two teams in ISL. East Bengal’s fierce rival Mohun Bagan AC has already merged with 3 times ISL champions ATK. They will play in ISL as ATK Mohun Bagan FC from this season. ISL will enjoy one of the greatest rivalry in Asia from this season. The famous ‘Boro Match’ between these two rivals will surely add more excitement to the league.
ATK Mohun Bagan is already enriched with so many talented foreigners. East Bengal will surely need some of them to fight for the title and challenge their rivals for the ISL trophy.
