Qualcomm recently announced its new mid-ranged SoC with 5G support, it will be the successor to its very successful Snapdragon 765G. You won’t notice a huge difference between the two of them as this is more like a overclocked version of the Snapdragon 765G.

Obviously, Qualcomm focusses on gaming with this new chipset, offering slightly bumped CPU and GPU performance. The main difference between both the SoCs is the inclusion of the Qualcomm Adreno 620 GPU. These are the following enhancements:

  • Qualcomm Kryo 475 CPU Prime core clock speed up to 2.8 GHz (improved from 2.4 GHz)
  • Qualcomm Adreno 620 GPU offers up to 15% performance increase
  • Support for Adreno Updateable GPU Drivers

Snapdragon 768G is designed to deliver superior gaming performance, 5G connectivity, and intelligent multi-camera capabilities, while also preserving battery life. Snapdragon 768G is also pin- and software-compatible with Snapdragon 765 and 765G.

The Snapdragon 768G features FHD+ displays up to 120Hz refresh rate along with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 192-megapixel cameras. This chipset too has an integrated Snapdragon X52 modem with support for 5G mmWave and sub-6 GHz, 5G SA and NSA modes, TDD and FDD with Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS), global 5G roaming and support for multi-SIM.

The 5G modem has peak download speeds of up to 3.7 Gbps and upload speeds of up to 1.6 Gbps. The Snapdragon 768G comes with the new 5th generation Qualcomm AI Engine which helps to enhance nearly every mobile experience including camera, audio, voice and gaming.

We might be seeing new smartphones with this chipset soon, the Xiaomi Redmi K30 5G Racing Edition will be the first one to feature it. Soon, more devices will be leveraging this 7nm chip into their smartphones and enjoy the enhanced performance that Qualcomm is promising along with 5G support.
