Zlatan Ibrahimovic contract update; Calhanoglu and Donnarumma in talks too

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is set to sign his new contract with AC Milan in the coming days. The new deal will run until the end of the 2022/23 season, and the striker will be 41 years old in October.

Despite his age, he has been able to perform at the top level with the Rossoneri. His leadership was essential in their Serie A title win this past season. During the last six months of the campaign, he played with an injury which he has now taken time off to get treated for.

The veteran will be out for the next five to six months at the very least as he recovers from the injury. He will be receiving a reduced salary worth €1-1.5 million this season, since he will be missing the most part of it due to recovery.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic made 23 appearances for AC Milan this past season in the league. He scored eight goals and provided three assists as they went on to claim the Scudetto. He returned from the MLS to rejoin the club in January 2020. And since then, he has played an instrumental role in their revival.

AC Milan have signed Divock Origi from Liverpool on a free transfer to bolster their attack, while Olivier Giroud and Ante Rebic remain other options. The Italian champions are also trying to sign Charles De Ketelaere this summer to add to their squad ahead of the new season.
