Zinedine Zidane turns down Manchester United job

Zinedine Zidane has been rumoured to be one of the favourites to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the new Manchester United manager. However, the former Real Madrid boss has rejected the chance to head to Old Trafford. The Frenchman has no intention of taking charge of the Premier League club at this time.

The 49-year-old led Real Madrid to three consecutive Champions League titles during his first spell in charge. After returning to the club for a second time, Zidane helped Los Blancos win their 34th La Liga title.

One of the primary reasons behind it is that he doesn’t believe that he can manage an English team just yet. According to BBC Sport, he does state that he would be willing to head to PSG if Mauricio Pochettino decides to return to the Premier League to manage United.

Zidane is also interested in managing the France national team. Didier Dechamps’ contract ends after the 2022 Qatar World Cup and the former France international could be a good pick to take charge of Les Blues after Deschamps.

🚨 Mauricio Pochettino is already in contact with Manchester United: he is ready to leave PSG mid-season.

Pochettino, alongside Brendan Rodgers, is among the favourites to land the Manchester United job right now. The former Tottenham boss has guided PSG to the top of the table so far into the season. However, an offer from the United board might be too good to reject for the Argentinian.

Right now, Michael Carrick is in charge of the first team and will face Villarreal in the Champions League in his first competitive game.
